Scoop Neck Tee and Ippolita Jewels

I love a cool t shirt -- and one with a clavicle-revealing scoop neck style! Personally, I don't care to over-accessorize my (white) tee, as I think the look itself is clean and sharp enough. Although I might spruce up with a watch, or a chic tennis bracelet. But I do favor the featured look; the stylist has layered a few simple yet awe-inspiring pieces around the neck. And, to top off an already great look, the model's skin tone is stunning.

Accessorize Like A Pro:

The featured jewelry by Ippolita is a bit pricey, but absolutely breathtaking. WoW!

Designer Spotlight: Jennifer Fisher

Jewelry Designer Spotlight! This morning while sipping coffee and browsing my Twitter feed, I was wholeheartedly excited to see the following headline: Jennifer Fisher: The Reigning Cool Girl of the Jewelry World. I have been keeping a close eye on Jennifer Fisher from the very beginning, as I was (am!) totally inspired by the designer's authenticity. In other words, I can so spot a piece of Jennifer Fisher jewelry

Excerpt via The Cut:
Who is the Jennifer Fisher Girl? Someone who does not
want to be like everyone else. I make sure to have enough variation in the line to give everyone access to express their own personal identity.
How would you describe your aesthetic – your personal style as well as for your collection? Utilitarian with a laid-back sensibility. I dress from day to night daily which brings a casual edge to everything I wear. You will never find me in a skirt. Ever. As for design, all of my pieces are meant to be layered and worn daily, year round. The pieces are utilitarian too.
What inspires you? I am constantly inspired by photography and architecture. Clean lines and geometric shapes are constants in my collections.
What inspired the fall collection? I wanted to darken the line a bit and give it a moody aesthetic. Not in a Goth way, but in a simple, abstract way. Currently, I am loving Stanley Kubrick’s pictures he took for Look magazine in the 1940s.
You sold privately for a long time. What encouraged you to make the move to sell more commercially? When Mark Lee and Danielle Vitale (Barneys CEO and COO, respectively) show up in your showroom, you do not say ‘No.’ I had actually been creating larger statement pieces in brass for editors and editorial stories when Barneys came to me. It was the perfect partnership at the perfect time.
After the success with Barneys, do you see expansion with other retailers in your future? Timing is everything and Barneys continues to be my one large US retailer. I never intended to sell commercially and I still do not. We keep the line to limited distribution for a reason. Who wants to have the same jewelry as everyone else? Selling directly to the consumer is our main business here for fine jewelry and the new revamped website will be launching in September, hopefully changing the way women shop for fine jewelry on the web.
You are known for piling on your jewelry and making it look effortless. How would you encourage others to adopt a personal style when it comes to jewelry? The key is to be yourself. None of my employees, friends, or clients wear the jewelry the same way. That’s the point. As for me, I never wear earrings so I make up for it on my hands and wrists. That is why my line is so heavy in bracelets and rings.

Mara Hoffman FW13 + Pamela Love =
A GREAT COLLABORATION!

Style Notes! Mara Hoffman ripped the runway during New York Fashion Week, debuting her Fall 2013 collection. I'm an avid follower of Mara Hoffman designs, as I love (yes, love) the signature free-flowing earthy vibe. I immediately connect with my inner spirituality as I obsess over the new arrivals, clothing—and the swimsuits are fab as well.

Going back to the Mara Hoffman runway show (2/9), jewelry by Pamela Love was spotted on the MH models, which was an O-M-G moment for me. Seriously? My favorite designers working together? Now that's hot; the presentation oozed with vibrant colors, prints, very cool accessories, and total inspiration.

An Accessories Line?

My Necklace, I Love It!

Daydreaming! Psst! Posted the above image via Instagram on Friday, and it seriously got me thinking. (I would love to design my own accessories line one day.)

Forever "Favorited" Tweet
Specifically, I am obsessed with bold statement necklaces + heavenly handbags + "one of a kind" exotic rings — and I am forever browsing retail stores and vintage boutiques for amazingly cool pieces. I think I would initially begin this journey by making Do-It-Yourself (DIY) accessories for myself ... and then see what kind of feedback I receive. Eek!?

Have you been daydreaming, too? Tell me about it on Twitter; @reply me. I'll be waiting...

Mid-Week Obsession!
Swear Rings

Style Notes | Seriously. I have been obsessing over the featured sterling silver "Swear Rings" by Wendy Brandes all week! This look is not exactly appropriate for the workplace, but imagine if  an angry woman slammed her hand on the boardroom table while wearing these rings? (OMG ... and LOLZ) Go peep the look! ($380)

Look of the Day: Kourtney Kardashian

Rumor has it that the Kardashian sisters will be featured on the cover of Lucky magazine in November. All three sisters will have their very own separate cover. Honestly, I don't care what anyone says...these girls are doing one thing: winning

Kourtney, Khloe and Kim look FAB (right); however, I'm loving Kourtney's full, high-waisted black skirt and black/white striped long sleeve sweater; it's girly and flirty! Also, Kourt accessorizes with splashes of color via her bangles, rings, and earrings. (Not a fan of the earrings.)

Kourt's look is totally attainable and consists of figure-flattering pieces.

Zoe Saldana's Chic Look!

Style Notes | What a chic look for a casual walk on the streets of Montreal -- and I especially love how Zoe rolled up the short sleeves of her easy breezy white tee! Personally, I do this often in the summertime, which enhances my silhouette. Really, it does!

In regards to the bells and whistles, Zoe didn't over accessorize, however, the earrings could've gone (away!)and it still wouldn't have downgraded the overall look one bit.

ELLE MAGAZINE'S Kyle Anderson Talks Spring 2011 Trends For nikkistyle.net

As promised, here's Part II of my interview with Elle magazine's Senior Accessories Editor, Kyle Anderson!

Nikki: I read that you loved the Giuseppe Zanotti Mirror High Heel sandals last spring (2010). In regards to footwear, what do you love this spring?

Kyle: I tend to love things that are sexy, sparkly, very high heels and a bit crazy. I love Rock n’ Roll—and I always love leopard for shoes. For spring we are seeing a lot of bright colors, natural materials, and very high heels and wedges. One of my favorite shoes this season is the men-inspired Oxford Lace-Up Platform wedges from Prada in black; and I love the sexy strappy Python Knee-High sandal boots from Pucci.

Nikki: In terms of accessories (handbags, jewelry, shoes, etc.), what are the hottest color trends this season? Are you feeling bright neon colors?

Kyle: Not so much neon. But yes, a lot of bright colors and python. For bags and shoes, I think color and python are great. If you aren't into bright-colored accessories go for something python (in a classic shape, and in a natural python color like tan or brown). For jewelry, our stylists go for statement pieces instead of personal little things. I’d say this season is more about gold; we always love the jewelry at Lanvin.

"I think in fashion there are no rules anymore..."

Nikki: “Mixing Metals”—do or don’t?

Kyle: I think in fashion there are no rules anymore. Yes you can mix metals—you can do whatever you want. I personally don’t mix. But last year we saw a really big trend in mixed metal pieces and that really kind of made me think differently: So many designers (especially Balenciaga) had jewelry collections with gold and silver mixed colors. Now I’m open to it ... maybe for styling, but not for me personally. I wear silver colors. And I don’t wear jewelry except maybe my Rolex or something from Chrome Hearts.

Nikki: What are some timeless accessory pieces that should remain in a woman's and man’s wardrobe, regardless of the current trends?

Kyle: I can probably talk more about women’s accessories than men’s. But if you want to spend some money and invest in something that you can wear for the rest of your life, you will not waste your money buying a black Kelly or Birkin bag. You can wear [it] every day for the rest of your life! Or the classic Chanel quilted bag in black ... you will wear it literally thousands of times—everyone loves them. I always tell people if you look at the pictures of “It girls” from the 50s, 60s, 70s, they wear the same bags as the “It girls” do today. So buy those bags and wear them to death! You will love them.

kyle on shoes - Buy a few classics like a pointy toe Manolo pump in black, tan and/or nude, or a Louboutin pump in the same colors.

kyle on watches - Invest in a beautiful watch like a gold Rolex or Cartier and just wear it every day. You don’t need tons of shoes, watches and bags ... just get the right ones and wear them often. I’d rather invest in a bag or a watch and wear cheaper clothes (in basics) from Zara or something—and enjoy my accessories and let them speak for my style instead of the clothes. I like basic clothes ... and love fab accessories!

EXCLUSIVE! INTERVIEW with Elle's Senior Accessories Editor, Kyle Anderson

By Jahn Hall

A Chat with Kyle... I almost crapped my pants (kidding!) when I found out that Elle magazine’s SENIOR ACCESSORIES EDITOR, Kyle Anderson, agreed to an interview for nikkistyle.net. This was a MAJUR ‘O-M-G’ moment! Com’on ...  Elle? Anyone who’s anyone reads Elle magazine—and I am lucky enough to get the inside scoop from an accessories editor guru who works for a top fashion publication.

Kyle and I covered so much fabulousness that this is only part one of a two-part interview. So grab a fruity cocktail—poolside if you’re a rock star—your laptop or Smartphone and get-to-know Kyle Anderson the person, and how he landed the gig at Elle (the job a million girls would kill for, including me!)

Bryanboy and Kyle Anderson in Morocco
Nikki: Darling! How are you? How was Morocco?
Kyle: Hi Nikki, doing great! Morocco was amazing. It was somewhere that I had always dreamed of visiting, a sort of mysterious place that not everyone has the opportunity to visit. I had a great time traveling with [renowned fashion blogger] Bryanboy as well. We definitely have a lot of stories to tell.

You’re currently Elle’s senior accessories editor; previously you worked as the magazine’s associate accessories editor. WOW—that’s a major leap! What has [that] transition been like?
Kyle: I started off at Elle over 6 years ago as an intern, then a freelancer, assistant, associate, editor, and now senior editor. I was lucky. Elle was my dream job—and I got it! I cover a pretty big market, all American and Italian designers. I really feel like it’s a good fit for me. Working in New York … it’s great to be able to have Americans as my market, and also I really love Italian fashion. I’m not that Avant-garde. I really like Milan’s sexy and more wearable style than Paris. I love Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Cavalli, Pucci, and Prada.

"I had 6 internships and loved magazines. I loved everything about it!"

At what moment did you know you wanted to become an accessories editor?
Kyle: Well, originally as a child I thought I wanted to be a designer or a stylist. I took some classes at FIT and I realized being a designer isn’t anything I wanted to do at all—maybe accessories, but not RTW [Ready To Wear]. I had 6 internships and loved magazines. I loved everything about it! Seeing the most beautiful things in the world as they come in the office for our shoots is exciting. We never get bored because we do something new and different every day. So to answer the question: I knew since elementary school that I wanted to work in fashion. And I definitely only wanted to be an editor probably after I started interning. I interned at Esquire, CosmoGirl, Marie Clarie, Vogue and Elle.

You are always going to the coolest appointments and sharing the most rock star behind-the-scenes pictures via your Tumblr page. I think the other day you were rubbing elbows with folks at the Victoria’s Secret headquarters—I’m so jelly! Walk me through a typical day as a senior accessories editor at Elle.
Kyle: Usually I start my appointments at the designers’ showrooms about 8:30 A.M. and finish appointments around lunchtime. I usually do like 6 per day. I cover everything in America from mass market brands to major designers like Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren. In the afternoon I work on finding and calling-in things I've seen all season at the many appointments. I take digital pictures of everything I see and email them with the shoot info to get the samples. It’s fun! It’s like a scavenger hunt for the coolest best things to fit each story.
Andrej Pejic, Kyle Anderson and Andrew Young at the Dossier Party NYC.

What is the best thing about your job?
Kyle: The best thing is seeing new things. I get bored very easily. The newness makes me excited! After a show or an appointment it’s like taking a drug, you feel high and excited to have seen amazing things, or on the other hand, disappointed when you don’t. Though, every designer has their off season so there is always something amazing waiting around the next corner.

Tune in next week, as Kyle Anderson talks all about SPRING/SUMMER TRENDS! You don't want to miss it!

Shoshanna Gruss Launches Jewelry Collection Exclusively with QVC

Style Notes | Today New York designer Shoshanna Gruss launched her jewelry collection exclusively with QVC. Shoshanna’s collection is a compilation of pear-shaped, metal mixing, crystal accented and draping jewelry—all of which I consider to be bold pieces that make an ‘I have just entered the room’ statement.

Now I should tell you that I'm very particular when it comes to jewelry. Truthfully, I don’t like tons of objects clinging to, or hanging from, my body parts. So when I’m excited about a jewelry line it’s a big deal.

Why this collection you ask?
First and foremost, I am drawn to Shoshanna’s jewelry because I feel like the pieces are transitional. I am always looking for knock-out fashion items that are stylishly appropriate to wear at the office, as well as at a trendy night club. (okay yeah I admitI love to double dip—and get my monies worth!) Speaking of money, every item in the collection looked Red Carpet high-end, yet everything is affordable; all items are under $100 bucks!

Shoshanna says to "Mix Your Metals!"
During the launch Shoshanna was a strong advocate for mixing metals, such as your gold tones with your silver and gunmetal (gray). And I have to say that most of her pieces are mixable! The rich colors coupled with the jewelry construction just blends well together. I didn't hesitate once to want-to mix her silver, gold and gunmetal pieces.

Each look is very glam-meets-elegance ... there is no other way to describe
—so hurry and head on over to QVC to shop Shoshanna’s newly launched jewelry line.
