Celebrity Style': Beyoncé Nailed It

Style Notes! It is no secret that Beyoncé often hits a home run in the personal style department. The featured Kenzo-Topshop combo nailed a perfect balance of comfort and fashionably cutesy. The pops of pink adds a playful element to the entire look — and the imprinted tiger symbolizes strength, royalty and regal beauty.

Photo Shoot: Beyoncé For GQ

Mag Notes! Well. The rumors are true: Baddie Bey covers GQ  [February 2013].

Interview Excerpt:
On Her Collaborators: "I've been working with Pharrell and Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and Dream. We all started in the '90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us."
On Songwriting: "I used to start with lyrics and then I'd find tracks—often it was something I had in my head, and it just so happened to go with the melody. Now I write with other writers. It starts with the title or the concept of what I'm trying to say, and then I'll go into the booth and sing my idea. Then we work together to layer on."
On The Album's Influences: "Mostly R&B. I always have my Prince and rock/soul influences. There's a bit of D'Angelo, some '60s doo-wop. And Aretha and Diana Ross."
On Her Inspirations: "Even the silliest little thing that you hear on the radio, it comes from something deeper. 'Bootylicious' was funny, but it came from people saying that I had gained weight and me being like, 'I'm a southern woman, and this is how southern women are.' My motivation is always to express something or to heal from something or to laugh and rejoice about something." [Source]

Beyoncé Wears Two-Toned TurtleNeck Dress By Marc Jacobs - Is It Really A Miss?

Style Notes | Beyoncé was recently spotted in Paris on Easter Sunday wearing a two-tone turtleneck dress from Marc Jacob's Fall 2011 RTW Collectionand she is unfortunately getting negative 'style choice' reviews. In fact, according to a StyleWatch people poll, 76% said the look is a miss. But is it really?

My Thoughts: This photo did not capture the best facial expression. But who doesn't have a blahzay picture buried somewhere in the basement? I bet we all have a few.

In regards to the dress though, I can't say that I hate it. The two-tone color does not bother me; and the polka dots do not bother me. But I chuckled when I read the following comment: WHY is she wearing a FALL outfit in the spring? That's a good question, because [it is] a bit dark for a spring day.

Other commentators felt as though 'B' wasn't wearing the outfitthat the outfit was wearing herand that Rihanna would have rocked it better. hmm interesting point.

Again, I don't hate the dress. I like the overall concept. And not particularly concerned with the season in which she wore it in, or that her face is ... eh.

What do you think about Miss Thang's Easter Sunday dress? Hit me up on Twitter (@nikkistyle) to share your thoughts ... don't go unheard!

New Deréon Ad Campaign: Fall 2010

Style Notes |  Deréon goes rocker-chic this fall. Interesting. So check this out: I love a bad girl, but I wish Beyonce went with a different hair color. Maybe jet black with highlights? Not feeling the blonde. Everything elseyes.

Give Summertime Humidity THE HAND—Get Luxurious Tresses like Beyoncé!

Style Notes! While flipping through Glamour UK’s Hair Dos and Don’ts gallery an image of Beyoncé’s hang-loose curls caught my attention. In addition to rocking the perfect hairstyle that will beat the odds of summertime humidity, what a fun and glamorous way to style your hair. Real hair or fake hair - I love the look - and have adopted the hairstyle myself (minus the extensions).

If I am trying to attain a similar hairstyle I do some really simple things...

I wash and condition my hair  with Garnier products, and
let the hair air-dry since it’s been so hot lately. I don't apply any heat, such as using a curling iron. Next, in regards to moisturizing, I dip my fingers into Olive Oil hair grease thirty minutes after air drying in efforts to treat my scalp, and to give my tresses some shine.

Lastly, before I go to bed I tightly braid my hair into four (or six)
— and then tie the hair down with a silk scarf. In the morning I pull out the braids; tease the hair for volume; give it some shine and then I'm off. No hairspray needed.
