Designer Emerges at NYFW! Like most Fashion Week onlookers, I'm browsing through spring/summer 2014 collections and stumbled upon a designer by the name of Marissa Webb, now in her third season [style.com]. I was mesmerized by all twenty-eight looks; they're sharp with a dynamite mixture of masculine and feminine elements. I had an Aha moment when I read the following, "I'm a tomboy in a tutu," says Webb. This statement aligns perfectly with Webb's overall SS/14 presentation as well as [her own] personal style. Webb's back story certainly grabs my attention. And I do like a story that's authentic and intriguing, and will keep an eye on her next steps as a designer. Thinking: I wonder what Marie Claire's Creative Director, Nina Garcia thinks about Webb's collection -- since she's known to like designs with a masculine touch.

Love. Waist. Drama.

Mag Notes! Disclaimer: (everybody knows...) I am pro-healthy eating habits and will always promote diversity in terms of body image (minus the heroin chic look). Moreover, I am in favor of promoting the bodies of 'real' women on my blog. So, it might come across as a bit hypocritical when I say that I'm in awe of Marion Cotillard's cover for W mag, the Dec 2012 issue. Sorry. I just can't deny how intrigued I am by [this] cover. It's H O T, from the fire engine color scheme to the unknown fingers—squeezing in on the gold-belted cinched waist. The concept is artsy as well as a tad futuristic, no?

"Bohemian Punk"

Style Notes | Over the years, I would jot down fashion words and phrases that might describe my signature style. And recently, while browsing Elle's Web site, I saw the term "Bohemian Punk" and thought: Ah yes ... that's it! The look demonstrates the compilation of trendy, chic, comfortable pieces—and yes—"geometric patterns, shells, skulls, and chains," according to Elle. Very nikkistyle!

I try never to play-it-safe in regards to my overall style. My clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and even hair accessories, gotta have a hint of the "Wow!" factor.

Betsey Johnson Style: The Outfit is Disgusting!

Style Notes! The fun and spunky Betsey Johnson posted this photo on her Facebook page. Isn't the outfit disgustingly adorable? (I think so.) And not just because I love pink, but because the look is charismatic — it screams personality.

FYI - The fashion term "disgusting" is supposedly the new "drop dead awesome," according to model-turn-media mogul, Tyra Banks. Hey, I just report the news ;)
